I call this series of still lifes “True Colors of Angels”, combining the mythology of angels and mirror reflections.  Angels generally represent spiritual protection and guidance, as in "guardian angel."

The spiritual principle of reflection states that natural and spiritual phenomena are reflections of each another.  Outward reality is a reflection of inward reality.
The Japanese crane of good luck is found among the images and birds are used to symbolize freedom.  The hummingbird is a metaphor for accomplishing things that are said to be impossible.  Due to the fascinating transitions it goes through in its life, the frog's dual time spent on land and water represents duality of the soul. Also included, the frog symbolizes creativity and forward thinking.

True Colors of Angels
When life deals troubled times and brings you to your knees,
there's always someone there to come along and comfort you.
A kind word from a stranger to lend a helping hand
A phone call from a friend just to say ‘I understand’
Isn't it kind of funny at the dark end of the road
Someone lights the way with just a single ray of hope

Believe in angels among us
Sent down to us from somewhere up above
They come to you and me in our darkest hours
To show us how to live
To teach us how to give
To guide us with the light of love

They wear so many faces
Show up in the strangest places
Grace us with their mercy
In our time of need
--Randy Owen

May you always be granted a sunbeam to warm you,
a moonbeam to charm you,
a sheltering angel so nothing can harm you,
laughter to cheer you and faithful friends near you. --Irish Blessing
